Whether you aren’t getting the results you want from your workout or are just getting started on your fitness journey, it can sometimes be hard to find the fun in fitness. However, this does not mean that fitness, exercise, and healthy eating cannot be fun; you just need to change your mindset a little, reassess your goals, and find a healthy dose of workout motivation.
With that in mind, here are some simple (yet effective) ways in which you can find the fun in fitness once again.
Learn more about nutrition.
When we properly nourish our bodies, they will thank us for it. By taking some time out of your day to learn about proper nutrition, you’ll begin to understand the signs your body is giving you throughout the day and provide it with exactly what it needs. As a result, you’ll feel happier, more energised, and even more confident. Learning more about nutrition also gives you a chance to experiment in the kitchen, trying out delicious new recipes.
Don’t be ruled by the scales.
Many people enter the world of fitness to get in better shape. However, this often means that they judge their success based on the numbers they see on the scales this morning. While they can be a useful tool to gauge weight loss, they should not be the only thing you consider. Instead, success can be measured in other ways. For example, perhaps you used to feel slightly winded after climbing the stairs but can now run up them without any problems. It’s also important to remember that you could experience weight gain when building up muscle, as muscle tissue is more dense than fat, meaning it takes up less space but could weigh more. When you stop focusing on how you look and the numbers and begin focusing on how you feel – you’ll soon notice the benefits of your workouts.
Focus on activities you know you will love.
Some people love the gym and could spend hours working out on the different machines, while others find the concept of working out in that environment a little nerve-wracking to begin with. While it is good to push yourself out of your comfort zone, you should begin by focusing on the kind of exercises you know you will love. For example, if you used to play rugby when you were younger, why not get started again? Get together with a group of friends, and play in your own time or join a local league. You can even help yourselves get into the competitive mindset by creating your own
Custom Rugby Kit online. Furthermore, team sports can be a great re-introduction to the world of exercise as they help to hold you accountable. Playing alongside others can also be great motivation!
Vary your workouts.
To see results, you should try to ensure that your workouts are as varied as possible. For example, this means that you could focus on cardio on one day before moving into weight training the next. This is also a great way to ensure that working out stays fun – as you aren’t doing the same thing day in day out. So, whether you attend the gym, or get your hands on some home exercise equipment, ensure that you mix it up a little and challenge yourself.
Fitness is a tedious expeirence, but it doesn’t have to be! Find fun and enjoyment in your workouts by doing more of what you love. Vary your workouts, and learn more about what you need to do, don’t let the scales dictate how you’re feeling and whether or not you’ll succeed!
